Providing high quality housing and holistic packages of support for vulnerable
people in Devon & Cornwall
Colebrook Housing Society is a not for profit organisation that has been
established since 1983. Colebrook provides a range of support services to
vulnerable people in Devon and Cornwall. Historically we have worked with people
who have mental health needs and / or people with learning disabilities. However
in recent years we have expanded our work to the wider community. Our Model
Rules were revised in 2006 and we now extend the support and services we offer
to any vulnerable group, particularly those who experience high levels of social
exclusion. This has enabled us to use our expertise and training to help improve
the quality of lives for more people in local communities and to develop
preventative work with people who experience social exclusion.
Our Ethos
- To work with an individual (and not just their diagnosis) to offer needs led
packages of support.
- To value equality and diversity and challenge discrimination at all levels.
- To encourage personal responsibility and for people to have control over their
lives and make informed choices, even when that means taking some risks and
making mistakes.
- To identify gaps in services and work with our partners to play an active role
in service development locally.
- To ensure efficient use of all of our resources – human, physical, financial and
other.
- Work alongside local and national strategies ensuring the future of our
organisation.
