Welcome to Carers Champions Plymouth
Do you provide practical or emotional support to a family member, a friend or
neighbour?
Do you see this as part of your role in the family or community?
Whether or not you consider yourself a ‘carer’ you are entitled to access help and support!
Colebrook Housing Society, in partnership with Age Concern, have launched Carers Champions Plymouth, this new service began on the 3rd September 2007 and aims to provide a flexible and responsive service supporting carers across the city. This service is funded by Plymouth City Council on a 3-year contract as part of the Council's commitment to carers in the city.
People who care for others now have access to more help and support from a new service in the city. Carers Champions Plymouth will offer adult carers of adults a range of different services and opportunities including advice and information about issues that affect them, practical support and help to get services that they need for themselves and the person they care for. Many people take on a supporting role as part of their commitment to family, friends, neighbours, and may not even consider themselves carers, but are entitled to help
Carers Champions Plymouth offers city wide Drop in sessions, information, outreach, training and peer support from other carers. Colebrook want this new service to be flexible and responsive to meet the needs of carers, and hope as many carers as possible will have a say in the services priorities. We believe that if more people use this service, the more they can enable carers voices to be heard to influence future services.
If you are a carer we are here to provide:
- Advice and information about issues that affect you
- Practical support sessions to carers and carers groups
- Help to get any services that you need for yourself or the person you look after
Carers Champions Plymouth is committed to improving services for carers in the city and aims to work alongside carers themselves to be actively involved in the design, delivery and continuous improvement of our service. Our service aims to work with known carers and identify new/hidden carers.
We care about carers!
