Fundraising
Fundraising at Colebrook Housing Society
As a not for profit organisation Colebrook Housing Society has a clear mission statement and value base which is about helping people improve their quality of life and promoting independence. Funding is becoming tighter and we are looking at new ways to support the valuable work we do and offer creative and additional opportunities to people. Donations and bequests are one way that local people can support the work that Colebrook does. We will always make sure that donations and bequests get used for the purpose specified by the donor, or if given for general purposes, are put into new funds to directly promote independence.
If you would like to make a donation or bequest money to Colebrook, please contact:

Felonious Mongoose Fund
This fund was set up following a bequest to the society in memory of an ex staff member who was big on technology. It is intended to encourage clients to access technology as a way of decreasing isolation, achieving social inclusion, gaining skills and promoting independence.
Here are some quotes from some of the people who have accessed financial support from this fund:
- “It will help me develop new skills in digital photography and also to build up new and existing support networks.”
- “(A computer) will help me with getting jobs that I can do with my medical problems and upgrade my computer skills.”
- “It got me interested in computers. It’s helped me with my kick boxing and healthy eating.”
- "I found this fund good and worthwhile. I applied and received £100 towards purchasing a second hand laptop. I put a small amount to this and purchased said item. I was gods send as I wanted to practice and continue to improve my IT skills. This was beneficial for my personal development and this allowed me to do so."
- "I can say without a shadow of a doubt that this fund is very worthwhile and should be continued to support people with being able to purchase items to develop their IT skills. IT is a part of every day life and people should be able to be involved."
Promoting Independence Fund
This fund was set up following a bequest from the late John Leonard who received support from Colebrook and went on to live independently.

- "A big Thank You…for the help I received to be able to purchase a new washing machine…I am now able to have my washing done in the privacy of my own home. Your fund helped take away the worry and allowed me to feel a lot more independent after my stroke."
